Before the pencil hits the paper, I like to get to know you, your personality, and your business. This can be in the form of a quick 10 minute call, a more in-depth video meeting, or a nice chat at a local coffee shop, my treat! If you feel that I will be good fit, we can go from there.
You like me, you really like me! After you decide to move forward with my services, I’ll write up a proposal that includes the scope of the project, pricing structure, and contract terms. The sooner this is signed, returned and deposit paid, the sooner we can move on to the fun stuff!
This is perhaps one of the most important steps, all great design projects are always backed by research. When I conduct research, I take into account what we have discussed during the discovery call, look at your business socials, and website (if applicable). After learning as much as I can about your brand, I look at your industry as a whole, and your competitors. This gives me an idea of what you have done in the past, and what the industry is currently doing. I strive to create unique, timeless pieces that shouts “your brand” rather than something that is done by every other business in your industry.
We’ve reached the fun stuff! The moment we had our first conversation, the wheels are already turning. Depending on the complexity of the project, I sketch out all my ideas on paper, as many as I can think of until I get the “this is it” moment. Much like contestant based game shows, not all of them can be winner, I take two or three designs into the final round for refining.
The final ideas are created digitally, and add the appropriate colors and fonts, going through the piece with a fine tooth comb.
The designs are done, and it’s time to show them to you. The way we do this is completely up to you. I can send you a PDF of the choices, or we can go as far as setting up a meeting at the local coffee shop – again, my treat. You will have as much time as you need to look at the options, and get back to me with your changes.
You like the color from option #1, but the font choice from option #2, no problem. This is your project, so I don’t like to limit the number of revisions. We can revisit it as many times as we need until you get the “this is it” moment.
Congratulations, you’ve chosen ‘the’ design, you’ve signed off on the final proof, now what? You will receive an invoice for the remainder of the balance, and I will be getting the files ready to deliver to you according to our proposal.
